About me

I have worked for the past 15 years in the Human Service field, mostly supporting high risk young people and their families experiencing substance use issues and mental health. My experience has ranged from youth outreach to Alcohol and Drug counselling and residential withdrawal services.

My university qualifications in this area are a Bachelor of Human Services from QUT, Graduate Diploma of Counselling from  Latrobe University and a Masters of Social Work from Monash University.  During my work in this field, I decided to explore both my personal development and my interest and passion in yoga.  I have long had an interest in the value of yoga practice to assist in mental health and well-being.   Yoga certainly changed my life and things have begun to move in a direction that has transformed my outlook and approach to life, work and well-being.

I completed my yoga teacher training with Akash and Adam Bornstein from Radiant Light Yoga in 2008.  While working full time in the professional area of Human Services, I satisfied my passion by teaching yoga part time.

In 2010 and 2011, I completed Yoga Therapy training with Adam Bornstein.  I focused my internship on post traumatic stress disorder as a continuation of my interest in supporting people who have experienced difficulties in their lives.  Yoga has been proven to demonstrate positive outcomes for people living with anxiety and depression.

My recent training has been with Richard Miller in IRest Integrative Restoration and Trauma Sensitive Yoga training with David Emerson and Dr Bessel van der Kolk from the Trauma Centre in Boston.

My goal is to combine my yoga teaching with my experience in mental health to provide a healing space accessible to all those who need it.

Recognising your own potential in your own life is the key. Physical and mental well-being are the path. I happily invite you to journey with me.
